By far the easiest way to get neo4j Commander up and running is installing it in neo4j Desktop:

In Neo4j Desktop

Drag and drop the shipped TGZ file onto the "Install" area of the "Graph Applications" tab.

Start neo4j Commander by clicking the little blue arrow in the "Graph Apps" list or from the dropdown menu of the "Open" button of a database.

neo4j Commander also reacts to connect/disconnect events you perform inside of Neo4j Desktop and automatically connects to the active DB.

On Web-Server

Installation is as easy as unpacking a ZIP file!

Go to the document root directory of your webserver and unpack the downloaded ZIP file inside that directory. This will create a "neo4jcommander" directory and you can start using neo4j Commander at http(s)://

You can run the web-version in any directory/path even from localhost and file://

System requirements: neo4j Commander does NOT require an application server or scripting: It consist of static files only! You can deploy it to any webserver on any hosting platform and you can use it with any current web browser.

Note: To establish a connection to your neo4j database, the domain of the database URL must match the domain of your neo4j Commander installation (due to web browser security limitations). E.g. if your DB is accessible at bolt://localhost:7687 you need to use neo4j Commander from http(s)://localhost/neo4jcommander

emoji_objectsTip: Use SSH tunnels to connect to remote databases instances. E.g. open a tunnel on local port 7777 and using neo4j Commander on localhost you can then connect to bolt://localhost:7777 without any cross domain security issues.
